Time to improve your garden in time for next Summer?
It's officially autumn - where did the summer go?
We have had a couple of interesting years weather wise and the long hot Summer last year had quite an effect on a lot of gardens, and for some it is only now that the full impact is becoming clear.
Does your garden look tired and are you not sure how to go about improving it for next year?
It is a great time to review and make a plan to get everything looking fantastic again in time for next Summer.
Maybe there are some existing plants which can be divided and retained where they are or possibly they would be better moved to a new location. The image above is an example of an area which was overgrown and crowded. All of the plants were removed, those which were long past their best were discarded, those that were simply too large were divided replanted, and some new plants were added.
In some cases it might even be time to make some bigger changes. Removing overgrown plants which are past their best provides a great opportunity to change the look of your garden completely.
Taking delivery of new plants is one of the most exciting days of any project as it marks the day that the end is in sight and before you know it the garden is going to be looking great again. Imagine leaving the house in the morning to bare ground and returning at the end of the day to see all of the plants set out ready to be planted up. No matter if there are 50 new plants or hundreds it is great to see them finally in place!
It may even be time to go a step further and reconsider how the layout of your garden works for you. Perhaps the children have now grown up and a teenage hangout would be more useful than a climbing frame. Possibly the vegetable growing area which you created with great intentions of going self sufficient has in reality proved to be a less than productive burden. Maybe you simply want to have a garden which is easier to manage, and a better layout and plant selection could help you achieve this. Have you always yearned for a secret corner all of your own, or have you decided that long hot summers are here for good and it is time to take the plunge and install your own swimming pool?
Whatever the state of your garden currently we'd be happy to help you make the best of it.
